"I did my own research" and the internet says "Kevlar is lightweight, flexible, and relatively thin, which allows it to be easily worn under clothing and remain concealed."

And of course, on both front and back.

I never wore one of those robes. Private high school just kicked us out the door, and for college, we had an alternate graduation, thumbing our noses at the university president, and Tricky Dicky!

No robes were needed for the alternate ceremony.
