But Dems couldve and shouldve been working to set up a counterbalancing media force. Instead, they are far behind the curve.
They were in denial about the power the media can exercise to shape public opinion and manufacture consent.. Many tried to tell them, but they did not take it seriously.

My guess is that it refers to the fact that prominent Dems ARE saying it, but it gets drowned out.
