(667 posts)It would be close, but that's 8 EV's that could switch to Dems that we haven't had since 1996. Kentucky would be a battlerground for sure. He's really beloved here. He won counties that Trump won with 80% of the vote. And even in the counties he lost, he lost by single digits where another Dem would've lost by 20 or 30 pts.
The crazy thing is that I think Beshear could easily win the general election. He's got a flawless background...a beautiful wife and 2 teenage kids. He knows how to talk to rural and redneck folks, but also just as comfortable in the black church. His father taught him politics well. He's like Biden without all the gaffes and age baggage.
He checks all the boxes, but he's not a flamethrower like AOC or Crockett. He's more behind the scenes cutthroat. But our base has wants firebreathers, not winners, so not sure he'd win the primary.
