Demogorgons were likely a mistranslation (or transcription error) of a Greek text about old gods (demiurges) in about the sixth century AD, with the word demo- coming from the same root as daimon (δαίμων , that took on a live of its own by the 1400s. There is likely no direct relationship to Gorgons (Γοργών . The quoted author probably should have just used the term gorgon for Biondi et al, as another name for Medusa.
