...the fact that they came into the casino together at 1:30 am on a Monday morning--a fact the witness knows because the commission was upset that they brought in people that were under 21.

Yes, I agree that the rest of it is just salacious and not evidence of anything illegal, but the point--IMO--of the story was really to establish that Turnip is lying about his closeness with the person at the center of the controversy he now finds himself embroiled in.
