Why not?
Because everyone and their bookie, cab driver, barber, manicurist, pet parrot and crazy aunt (or uncle) will have one, or more theories. And as with all information, the less that’s available, or the more withheld, the more people will speculate. Management calls this malicious gossip, while trying to keep people in the dark, and I have encountered this on many jobs.
