In reply to the discussion: Why are Trump and the GOP Working So Hard to Ruin America? [View all]GiqueCee
(2,571 posts)... to burn it to the ground, to destroy it from the inside out, and to erase whatever esteem in which America is still held on the international stage.
Within those parameters, he was free to do whatever the hell he wants, and, because he is a psychotic monster, he's doing exactly that. He thrives on hurting and humiliating people, and he feeds his insatiable desire for constant attention by being more and more outrageous with every passing day. I'd like to think that someone, somewhere, is or should be making plans for a concession stand selling tickets for the inestimable pleasure of pissing on Trump's grave.
As for the GOP, history has demonstrated beyond the remotest shadow of a doubt, that Republicans HATE democracy with a raging passion. That's why they're Republicans, for Christ's sake!
In 1933, Republicans plotted a coup d'stat, and asked the nation's most highly decorated Marine general, Smedley Butler, to do the wetwork. Instead, he dropped a dime on 'em, and detailed their scheme in a Congressional hearing. But Congressional cowards did nothing to the conspirators. Nothing.
Congressional cowardice and Republican perfidy have brought us to the point where The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 has become the lawless Law Of The Land. Next stop: The Randian Hellscape that Russell Vought, and every Republican that Satan ever shat out, has dreamed of since the days of the Robber Barons.
It was July 4th, 2018, when a delegation of Republicans visited Moscow and had secret meetings with Putin. On July 4th, America's Independence Day, Republicans donned their knee pads and serviced Putin to seal their fealty to Putin's puppet, and, by extension, to Vlad himself.
In short, there is NO bottom to the conservative cesspool of malice and depravity. And the Pollyanic belief that there is something good in even the vilest Republican is a grotesque disservice to those already suffering at the hands of Trump and his merry band of malignant minions. Just remember what happened to Neville Chamberlain's pitiful slogan "Peace In Our Time", prior to the outbreak of WWII.
There can be NO forgiveness for Trump's and the GOP's obscene treachery. None.
