I thought they might do something cruder, like mess with his meds or just allow him to fall down the stairs over and over again until the treatment worked.

But maybe ... they're going to force him out with this scandal. Maybe. I'm not even 50% convinced yet, but it doesn't look good.

I don't have the same concerns as others do about Vance. I think Vance will disappear faster than a trans-solar system comet. He has no charisma, no base, and no ability to hold the thing together. If Thiel thinks he's going to rule thru this puppet he is probably completely mistaken, but the joke's going to be on us.
