COMATOSE

This response to Rolling Stone on another forum.

A party that ties its strategy to polls is doomed to being jerked about by opposition maneuvers, and the opposition has been carpet-bombing the playing field with one outrage after another.

The Democratic party does have a core platform of values, mainly on labor, Social Security, health care, equality and growing the economy from the bottom and middle, a.k.a. Bidenomics. But between elections, the messaging is dead silent, as noted by the article and party activists. Only the anti-Oligarchy tour is active right now.

Whereas, the GOP has a 24 by 7 by 365 propaganda machine. The odd fact is that the current GOP is the exact opposite of "small government", "no interference" and "fiscal conservatism" of the "vanished" GOP, but the propaganda machine completed a full reversal of the party platform, burying it in "populist" demagoguery.

Much of Silicon Valley has supported the extreme libertarian stance, I suspect, out of fear of regulation, and love of tax breaks.

Just as magas ignore the devastating economic effects just starting to roll in, because they get to "own the libs, minorities, immigrants and so on", Valley bigwigs ignore the assault on immigrants, and on university R&D which is the lifeblood of innovation. "But the tax breaks, But the ability to buy favorable breaks from tariffs and other heavy-handed "orders".

Whether the libertarianism is a core philosophy, as it seems to be with many Valley bigwigs, or just a way to undo constitutional guarantees, there is an "uncommon common ground" so to speak.

As for the "Valley View", read a thread about Curtis Yarvin. It "Ayn" pretty.

Edit to add: It is likely that Vance, Musk and Thiel will take over when the leader's health fails. The "crypto bro" coup will be complete. These tidbits should not be ignored. Two-thirds, South African immigrants? What irony?

Righteous rant here:

Rubicon Crossed.

And our "leaders"?

No doubt finding nice new threads for their arrest, summary trial and execution for "treason"
