The decision to define Gaza City as a 'dangerous combat zone' contradicts last month's announcement of a daily pause in fighting to allow the safe transfer of UN-facilitated humanitarian aid supplies. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of IDF reservists received call-up notices for next week
The Israel Defense Forces said it would cancel the previously announced daily 10-hour "humanitarian pauses" in Gaza City, ahead of its planned military takeover of the city.
According to the statement issued Friday morning, "the local tactical pause in military activity will not apply to the area of Gaza City, which constitutes a dangerous combat zone."
Last month, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that daily 10-hour humanitarian pauses will secure routes for UN convoys and aid organizations to safely distribute food and medicine throughout Gaza.
The IDF stated that the policy changes were in line with the Israeli leadership's instructions of "improving the humanitarian response in Gaza and refuting the false claim of deliberate starvation."
Israel master of Doublespeak. For shame.
