The story of the whistleblower at the SSA, who has confirmed that DOGE mishandled our data, [View all]

is one of the most important stories out there. Although there are SO many right now.

There have been several articles shared on this forum. I will gather some posts, and add them in the replies.

There was a good segment on The Last Word on Thursday night. Ali Velshi was in for Lawrence. He had Martin O'Malley (former SSA Commissioner) as his guest. O'Malley is always a brilliant guest and he knows his topic.

It is hard to fathom that there may a solution that entails issuing new Social Security numbers for everyone. I would not trust the people in charge right now - they will screw this up too.

I think the first thing that needs to happen is Congress needs to step up and order a forensic IT audit. Kara Swisher says this needs to be done by high level white hat hackers. We need to know exactly what they did while they were in those systems mucking around.

BTW, we can also blame SCOTUS for saying it was perfectly fine for the unqualified hacker punks at DOGE to have access to our sensitive private data. The Privacy Act of 1974 ensures that our data will be handled with certain care - that didn't happen. The law does specify remedies. Is a class action lawsuit possible?
