.... test can only tell you you likely have prostate cancer, but where and how progressed it is requires new technology—a PET scan with an INJECTED radioactive isotope (often in the back of the hand).

The reason I even address the issue is that the black and blue on the back of the hand is not a sure indicator that he is on death's door.
