In SC, age of consent for an "unmarried woman" (if you please) was defined in the State Constitution as 14 until 2007, when an amendment to the Constitution barely squeaked by with a just-above-50% referendum vote.

In 30 of these United States, the age of consent is 16. But the issue is complicated by laws about "lesser" offenses (usually "Corrupting the morals of a minor child," or some such variation), which attempt to regulate sex between adults and minors. These "lesser" offenses are commonly misdemeanors.
