Doesn't matter if we're at war or not. Those planes are going to fly, either over desert or countryside, or over football stadiumd.
And I did commiserate with you about having to put up with the DoD PR campaign that is the College Football Flyover.
They started that for Gulf War II, because the NCAA liked the recruiter Ad money.

Sigh

Here's the reason for those planes flying. You don't want pilots flying planes who only jump in a cockpit three or four hours twice a year, like it's a video game. That kills people, people in the air, and people on the ground.
Got a problem with the Military in general, that's valid. Got a problem with Military Recruiting at Football Games, that's really valid.
Flying to keep reservist pilots practiced and trained is also valid. Though I am sorry for pets, kids, and those with personal trauma that are affected.
