I have been saying for at least year now that divide and rule has clearly been the strategy.
It has the weirdest effect. Social media driven bogus feminism and bogus anti racism as far as I can tell has the dual benefit for the right of helping the oligarchs consolidate power and represent feminism and anti-racism etc as completely unrelatable and that undermines the serious issues those labels actually represent.
People see an obnoxious influencer or even bot scolding and preaching and they dont get that a lot of basically beat up people who are trying to quietly lead lives of quiet desperation dealing with oligarchs and a slew of other bs are being exploited conceptually.
Young men especially seem to have a very wrong notion of feminism. A feminist is not typically a glamorous, haughty, know-it-all Karen in a Beyonce or Taylor Swift T-shirt. Those are all images of influencers, public figures, celebs etc. In the real world (which is the only world really) a feminist is more often the tired, haggard, beat-up, middle-aged woman who tries to be kind in what ways she can to young people in shitty service jobs while dealing with loathsome/sexist systems and other rubbish. Feminists are often working women leading lives of quiet desperation not Karens. Many feminists try hard to keep gender out of it and to not come off as entitled while privately dealing with frustrations and trying to put a cheerful face on them. Real feminists are very concerned about feminism not coming off as entitlement. Same with anti-racism. And not the conservative thing.
When you are female or a minority, you are an ambassador for the group you represent and if you are dishonest or entitled you damage the whole group. That said, there are no perfect complainants.
Feminist scholars represent a minority of feminists. And I cant say they have done a great job of representing the realities of feminism. At the same time social media has turned it into a noxious caricature. And the capture of all concepts by the bloated and creepy entertainment industry has not helped.
I dont feel that this emoji and social media world is a good fit for realistic representations of people and it never will be.
