the more I think it possibly 'calculated' to provoke a response
by targeting a star of their own base.....

Possibly. I don't claim it is "fact", but anything is 'possible'.

.... and, of course, the right have more guns than we do---
no matter what they may choose to engrave upon their ammunition....
