the norm and I think an addiction to this chaos will not go away anytime soon. There have always been political differences but this is different. I think it just as harmful as drug or alcohol addition - maybe worse because it affects everyone.

The US is the longest lasting Democracy in the world and I hope it can survive. We are so divided...by wealth and education, race and ethnicity, and political party affiliation and throw religion into the mix and it is a recipe for a demagogue.

IMO, this has been a progression over the last 50, and it has accelerated since 2000, so it really is the "new normal".
