"God, I don't care if the patient dies, but please let it happen after the patient is out of recovery so I won't have to answer any questions about it. Thank you, God, for your attention to this matter."

That is what the Governor is saying. He doesn't care about Kirk. He doesn't care there was a brutal murder. His only request of God is that some other person in some other state be blamed for it. It just seems like a rather strange request of a god. But that's what we get when we intertwine government and religion.

I mean, in most religions, a prayer is more like "God, give me the strength to do my duty with patience, wisdom, and compassion." Not "God, please rig this thing so somebody else is held accountable." But this is what religious fanaticism looks like -- people who literally hear voices from gods and fully expect their gods to actively intervene to vanquish their enemies.

Do you understand why some of us would find this truly disgusting? And let's make no mistake about it. There are many rift lines in our society. But in this particular case, this appears to be 100% a religious war -- a fight between two groups of Christian fanatics. Christo-fascism isn't the cause of every problem we have, but it sure comes up a lot, considering Christianity was supposed to be about loving and kindness.
