The governor's statement is embarrassment that after all his hate rhetoric about POC,
and all his sanctimonious statements about white males that the shooter was
a white male

The governor has egg on his face and prayed that he would not be humiliated.
But he is humiliated and has to eat crow.

This is the psychology of his statement.

Yes using God to do the wrong thing or defend against evil is disgusting.
I would never argue otherwise.
