TN-07: Some Tennessee voters express concerns about political mailer sent [View all]

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — As the race for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District heats up, some Tennessee residents have expressed concerns after getting a political postcard in the mail.

“Your neighbors are watching and will know if you miss this critical special election,” the mailer reads, in part. The postcard, sent from an unverified source, also reads “The TN Republican party HQ will see whether you have voted” and “we are compiling an official list of Republicans who fail to vote.”

Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden said the state GOP did not send the postcard, adding that it could violate federal electioneering laws.

“We’ve had a few calls to the office regarding the mailer … It wasn’t coming from the Tennessee Republican Party, even though it certainly referenced us … It was done with an Austin [Austin, TX] postmark,” Golden told News 2.
