What is Prop 50? Poll shows Californians support as special election nears [View all]

A survey of California voters from Emerson College Polling found 51% would vote yes on Prop 50 if the election “were held today.” That’s compared to 34% who’d vote no and 15% who are undecided.

The poll, conducted Sept. 15-16, also found that among those “very likely” to vote in the special election, 55% plan to vote yes on Prop 50 while 35% plan to vote no.

“Regardless of how voters plan to vote, 51% think Proposition 50 is a good idea and 49% think it is a bad idea,” Emerson College Polling said.

It follows a poll from the Institute of Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley that found 46% of Californians thought redistricting in California that favored Democrats to counter Texas’ efforts was a good idea, while 36% said it was bad.
