There was quite a bit of social media by some large YouTubers out there that may have helped decide this race. It was (rightly) framed as getting rid of the old Repub guard that protected Georgia Power and let it pass along the costs of large capital projects and AI centers to consumers. It's actually a long story of why they were having this race NOW, but Georgia tried to set it up like this, hoping that it would get low voter turnout, which tends to favor Repubs.

I do think this is wrong to read into this race there is a large Dem swell coming. I think it was the targeted message these two would lower electricity rates and a targeted social media campaign that I really think helped the most.
