She directed many very good films such as Salaam Bombay!, Mississippi Masala and Monsoon Wedding. I didn’t know this until I saw her come onstage with her husband at the end of Mamdani’s great speech. The announcer said who she was. I immediately said to my wife that we’ve seen a few of her films.
