... it's like a disability. Nobody wants to employ such a person. Better that they have some support than a life of crime or homelessness.

Really, if there was a basic guaranteed income with no test, life would be simpler and easier for the people who don't need as well as those who do. In total it saves money on emergency services, policing, addiction treatment and, most importantly, provides much better outcomes for children.
