when you were the one who took it is pretty disingenuous.

Or, in the third person, using the passive voice to avoid naming the subject of the sentence is a pretty weaselly way to avoid naming the culprit.

"Sally was kidnapped" is a weak thing to say when the reality is "Dick kidnapped Sally" and we're too gutless to say so because Dick's political appointees might pull our broadcasting license.
