who say things like, "Have an ICE day!" or "Let them do their job!"

They don't really believe these people are horrid criminals, or are stealing jobs from U.S. citizens: they are just frigging racists! That and (there must be a psychological term for this), they see politics as a kind of sport, and they must win and must cheer their team at all costs.
