Will be horrific

My dearest friends have been together for 40 yrs, commimment ceremony legal papers for 37, adopted 2 kids, the first kid in China to a 'single' woman, then a joint adoption in the US, then legally married in US after Obergefel. They have bought and sold real estate, cars, investments together. Trying to imagine some bureaucracy untangling this is difficult.
