(3,012 posts)... to remind our elected officials that they work for us, and that their decisions must reflect the desires of their constituents. They do NOT get to just pat us on the head and tell us to run along and let the grownups discuss matters of state. It is their duty to keep us informed so that our decisions reflect facts on the ground, not a sanitized and watered down version of events concocted by unelected consultants.
We are not mushrooms to be kept in the dark and fed bullshit.
Conversely, it is our duty as constituents to pay attention when they do tell us what's going on in the halls of power, and to apply reason and logic to our responses when we convey our thoughts and desires to our aforementioned elected officials making decisions that might adversely affect the lives of millions. Like now.
