As usual, your post is thoughtful and provocative.

I’ll say this: the CDC staffers I know are damn glad they’re not staring down the barrel of an entire 4th quarter 2025 with no paychecks. They’ve already been through the wringer this year, aside from the shutdown — one losing 40 pounds due to DOGE-induced stress during the Elon tyranny; they were also working on a floor where a window was blown out by the shooter a couple of months ago.

I also know a very dedicated National Park Service employee who’ll be glad to get back to serving the public.

I am disappointed that the Dems seem to have capitulated with not much to show for it, but then again stopping at least some of the bleeding at this point is not nothing. I just hope they don’t fumble the messaging and lose the P.R. battle to the shameless, skilled liars in the Republican caucus.
