(53,242 posts)We are like bee or ant colonies. Hierarchical - pyramids - for organizational purposes. Unless there are extremely low populations and wide areas, this is the structure.
The top of the pyramid has had pharoahs, kings, zealots, religious leaders, rich people, potentates, enlightened despots, and dictators.
Our current war seems to be between the richest ever and the poor, but there is also the religious vs. secular mind control artists.
The US Constitution was the Enlightenment's way of flattening the power structure. Is it dead? Perhaps, but not so fast. Power of the people is always there, in various forms around the world. We, scholars, citizens understand so much more about human political and economic structure than ever before. So maybe there's hope.
