First, even if it's $2,000 per household, that will cost over $240 billion. Trump's own people are projecting $195 billion in tariff revenues. If it's 2 grand per person, it creates a $500 billion hole in the budget.
Second, the claim was it would eliminate the deficit and pay down debt, but giving more away than is being taken in does the opposite.
