FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Trump have built a strong alliance heading into next year’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The pair crossed paths on Wednesday — the day FIFA announced its new prize — in Miami, where they both gave speeches at a conference of business leaders. Infantino has previously made clear that he sees Trump as a champion of world peace.

The award will be announced on Dec. 5 in Washington when the World Cup draw is held at the Kennedy Center, the arts venue that Trump has reshaped this year.

Ivanka Trump was appointed to the advisory board of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a charity project part-funded by a portion of the ticket sales from the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
