Sen. Lindsey Graham Says He'll Sue Government Over January 6 Probe [View all]
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) vowed to make the government pay after the Senate approved a bill allowing individual senators whose records were secretly accessed by the Department of Justice in its probe of Trump's attempt to overturn his loss in the 2020 presidential election to sue for restitution.
"Oh, definitely," Graham said at a press conference in South Carolina. "And if you think I'm going to settle this thing for a million dollars? No. I want to make it so painful, no one ever does this again."
"I don't know if I'm gonna win or not, but I'm going to pursue -- through the court system -- remedies," he added.
House Republicans slammed the taxpayer-funded multimillion-dollar giveaway to GOP senators that was tucked into legislation ending the government shutdown, calling it "self-dealing" and "wrong."
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced Wednesday he would put a stand-alone bill on the floor in the future to repeal the provision. But even if it passes the House, it would need to be approved by the Senate, and that could be tough given the views of senators
