(16,038 posts)are the ONLY weapons restricted by the NFA...not shotguns with barrels over 18", not hand guns, not semi-autos, etc. Only short barreled shotguns, fully automatics, and various other very, very specific weapons which have been determined not to be "in common use for lawful purposes". If you are suggesting all guns should be restricted by NFA, that is another story...they aren't now. So you see the NFA has absolutely not a single thing to do with guns "in common use for lawful purposes".
If the Federal Government can show that private intrastate sales affect interstate commerce, then they can regulate them.
True, but to date they have not done that...and far from a slam dunk defense for a challenge to a federal law restricting private intrastate sales..it may prevail, it may not...
