They get something started like this, and they want more, more, more. More land, more of the tax base, more jobs for their people. What they can't get legally they'll attempt to take illegally. Pressuring and harassing the people living on that land t to move away and sell it to them. Good God! That's one of the main reasons for the Salem Witch Trials! Old women living on the land they and their husbands had worked... husband died, woman living alone, declared to be a "witch" because it's just so unnatural a woman should live alone after being widowed (/snark). The rich white men of the villages wanted the land and the women wouldn't sell... because... where would they go? Cry Witch and let hang the woman! (Note: the ergot didn't help matters)

The ONLY way I'd want to see this type of settlement happen is if they pick ONE state, move everyone who wants out into other parts of the country, and then put up a damned wall around their racist, sexist, bigoted outpost. Preferably manned 24 hours a day by sharpshooters.
