I used to think it *could* be adequately secured, IF there was verification and validation and air gapped servers. After what Musk did to steal the election for trump and R's this time, I no longer think that way. I'm with you thinking there's just no way it can be a verified free and valid election if we use electronic voting/tabulation machines. I'd rather go back to the old paper and pen and adding it all up on calculators. I'd still like to see the U.N. have a member nation monitor our voting sites, like we do in other third world countries.
