2. How is this not a leading news story on every network?

We just went through a pandemic that killed over 1 million Americans.

The White House claims to have appointed a relevant expert to head up pandemic response, but it wasn't true. Instead, they gave him a minor role in a different office, and never announced the difference.

Now, he is resigning, no doubt because he is unable to do the job of preparing the country for a pandemic. He is resigning less than six months into the job. There is no leadership of pandemic response, and the White House has de facto closed the main office for pandemic response.

And this is not a main story on the news?
