In reply to the discussion: GOP Official Plans To Force Schools Into Creating Turning Point USA Chapters [View all]Well, Katya, your reply is the deepest rabbit hole I've been down lately and boy did I get an EDUCATION!
Ryan Walters MO is: "to erase the line between church & state.
He is the Oklahoma State Superintendent of Schools that we have been hearing about the last few years.
Now that he has the Ten Commandments & Bibles in every school in the state, he's going full hog on the far right wing's drive
to turn every school in the state into institutions of Christian Nationalism.
The famous "Prager U" is an NGO (supposedly, I'd like to read it's mission statement) that $ells it's conservative school curriculum to
Schools. in the United States, The article I read said (some) schools in Alaska, Idaho, South Carolina, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Montana, Texas, Florida and Arizona have already adopted their religious curriculum.
What's different is that the curriculum will be in EVERY school in Oklahoma. American tax dollars are going to pay for Christian Nationalist K-12 schools in Oklahoma.
ALSO, (if all that isn't enough) all teachers will have to take a 50-question test in which they will fail if they don't answer every question right. Let me repeat: in order to teach in any school in OK, one must pass this test in order to get an OK teaching certificate.
Having accomplished his mission to erase the line between church and state in all of OK schools, Walters has resigned his OK schools post. He's either going to run for governor or (get this) might be edging into some kind of position with Charlie Kirk's Turning Points USA. Don't know if the TPA position is state or national.
That's what I learned down in that rabbit hole. Whew. I feel sick.
