i forget the buzz words used at the time, but i think it was 2010, and he recruited a bunch of veterans to run for congress. and yes, that was the great shellacking. this was the cycle after tammy duckworth beat christine cegelis in the primary, but lost the general. they ran a woman vet jill? morgan something? got her ass handed to her by joe walsh. seat finally turned blue after redistricting w raja krishnamorthi.

(correct me if i’m wrong on the timing here. i’m fuzzy on the deets.)

yeah, out republicaning the republicans is never a good strategy, imho.
