CHARLESTON, W.Va. The Trump administration has announced a $625 million investment to support the coal industry, with funds directed toward keeping existing coal plants operating, lowering energy costs, and strengthening U.S. competitiveness against China in artificial intelligence.
West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey praised the plan, calling it a win for the states energy sector. I commend President Donald Trump and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright for backing West Virginias coal industry and supporting our 50 by 50 policy, Morrisey said. The states energy strategy relies heavily on coal and gas to expand production and meet future demands.
