Venezuelas oil is mostly heavy crude, which requires more complex refining processes to convert into usable products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. Despite its vast reserves, the oil extracted from the Orinoco Belt is more difficult and costly to refine compared to lighter crudes, which has contributed to the difficulties in maximizing production from these reserves.
