Donald Trump said that AI companies cant be expected to pay for the use of copyrighted content in their systems, amid a fierce debate over the use of intellectual property in training models.
Speaking at the AI Summit on Wednesday, Trump said: You cant be expected to have a successful AI program when every single article, book or whatever youve studied youre expected to pay for. Trump called for what he characterized as common sense artificial and intellectual property rules, saying that the U.S. cant afford to fall behind China, which does not have strong IP protections.
