They laugh at his "jokes"-- that is, his lies and confabulations-- like he's some great comedian.
They ask simpering questions, and when they get some insane response like "Reduce prices by 1200%", they don't blink and don't follow up and god knows they never say, "Mr. President, that doesn't make any sense. Why are you lying to us?"

He's gotten away with everything all his life. It is the most striking example of the extraordinary privilege accorded to rich white men since Henry VIII.
