He was wrong about so many things.

You cannot beat someone into loving you. All a child learns from getting hit is that if you are bigger you can hit someone who is smaller.

Nobody has childcare completely figured out yet. I have seen fabulous parents create clueless citizens. One thing I know for sure, violence and abuse do not develop empathetic humans.
I rocked our kids to sleep every night. They felt secure and trusted us. They never had any trouble learning to sleep on their own. When they are tired, they go to sleep, seems to work.
When they have challenges, they seek guidance.
When they see injustice, they get mad.
When someone needs help, they help.
