I just had a thought yesterday about post-apocalyptic worlds. (Fictional, that is, so far.) [View all]

What about sinkholes?
On Thursday we had a sinkhole appear on I-26 in SC between Orangeburg and Columbia. Now, I know other states have had them too.

But then...what about roads in the post-apocalyptic world? After some years, there would be sinkholes on the roads, lots of them in areas that have more rainfall. Another danger on what had been good roads.

And an unrepaired sinkhole would just get bigger and bigger. Not to mention fallen trees, limbs, other debris.

Not to mention, do roads burn? I mean, if there's a horrific fire somewhere do they burn/melt too?
