I've been getting some pretty special snuggles from my kid cats. I hated to have to get up and get the day started but my niece (also my goddaughter) her husband, and my brother are bringing dinner to my house. I've always been very involved in my niece and nephew's lives and have the sad privilege of playing the role of substitute mom ever since my sister died.

I have no idea what they are bringing but whatever it is will be wonderful. It's a perfect day, weather wise, so we will be able to relax beneath the branches of my 'air conditioned' maple tree and, no doubt, recall stories about our moms, grandmothers and godmothers who are no longer with us.
