i live where i live cuz when i 1st moved to the city, the hood i lived in was 1 that had been ‘flipped’ when brown ppl started moving in. the folks who hadnt fled were some of the most bitter ppl i’d ever known, til now. proto-magats.
i figured this hood couldnt b flipped. bonus was that it was cheap, cuz brown ppl. lovely old houses and big yards. still cheap compared to the more ‘desirable’ areas.
shops of all kinds, restaurants from everywhere, and more miguels and mohammads than brandons and barbies.
my kids r citizens of the world. middle kid is in nyc, and perfectly at home.

i dont think i’d have dared to homeschool in my small hometown. chgo is so full of museums and culture, parks w good kids programs, architecture. 1 big classroom.
