Drowning in information overflow [View all]

I can hardly keep all the emails sorted. I use 3 main email boxes, plus a few minor ones for ancillary stuff. You join a website, you buy something. You buy a book. You're interested in the subject and want to keep informed, but they pile up. Some are memorable. I save them. Some are from an ongoing business. Some are financial. I have one additional mailbox for all that stuff. It is chuck full every day. Several thousand emails over 10 years. I rarely read any of them, or I might read one that's interesting, but I miss some sort of important ones too. Then there's downloading monthly statements.

This whole thing is beyond unwieldy. I see no way to stop it. My oldest box I'll probably have to buy a subscription because it's getting overflow level. I like this whole mess about as much as I like monthly bills. Another beef is closing an account. One account I can't close because there's a special process to close it. THe account is tiny, it's a just in case event. Sometimes, often, they charge to close an account or transfer it. Phone company charges $75. THey tell me to use Google Phone.

This is tough stuff. Just drowning in information flow.

Rant over.
