8. I've been up close & personal with boas & pythons like that, but I would not let one wrap around a small child.

One friend had a 10-foot boa named Ralph. We used him to show my own grade school kids (back in the 1980s) that snakes often have vestigial back feet. Then when my 7-year-old daughter told her classmates that she had seen and felt a snake's feet, they called her a liar, so we took Ralph to school to show them. The kids were all fascinated, and everyone wanted to pet the snake and feel his feet.

But all the teachers were crammed up against the classroom door, & some could only bear to peek in from outside of the door. There was quite a bit of shuddering going on by that door.

But the little kids were really into Ralph!
