8. In the 80s we had a Shepherd that would completely freak out

He would literally try to climb the walls. It wasn't just fireworks, but thunderstorms, and even the snowplows clearing the roads in winter.

We asked our vet at the time(RIP) if we should tranquilize him. He said by the time the tranquilizers took effect, the loud sounds would likely be over. He recommended desensitization to noise through audio tapes, but the dog was no dummy, and knew what was real and what was artificial.

We finally figured the only way to calm the poor baby was to let him lay under the desk, with my Mom sitting in the desk chair in front of him. It had to be Mom too, it couldn't be me or my sister.

The others we had over the years we could just turn on the TV or play music loudly and they would immediately calm. My current Shepherd,Dakota, just runs around barking until it stops. I think he's convinced he's just saved me when it does. 😆

I hate fire works.
